Today I launched new listing pages specially formatted for mobile devices. The redirect will happen automatically. This would apply to all listing urls, including those imbedded in a QR code. If it's a mobile device requesting the page you will be forwarded automatically to the special page.

As we move forward I will add a special mobile only serach page, special mobile only index pages and a special mobile only home page.

Previous and Next photos

New way to flip through the photos on a property. Now you don't have to scroll through the window at the right you can also flip through them using arrows on either side of the photo caption area.

Bathroom Numbers

Since the beginning of this site the only numbers we had access to were numbers for "Full Baths".. and not any other additional types of baths.. so not 3/4 and half baths, just Full.. so some properties were only able to show a number less than their total facilities count.

This has changed today, if you search for a property you are now searching against the total number of facilities. The numbers are then broke out on the individual property page into Full,3/4 and Half numbers.

"Printer Friendly" pages

Been a little while since I did further development on this site. Been snowed under with other developement work. So I apologize.. But here is a new feature.. and I'm not sure I'm quite happy with the location of the link or it's style so things may change but right now just above the quick details but below the photo block on listing pages you can find a link to a printer format friendly "One Sheet".. so you can print that and take it with you.

Changes to galleries

In the galleries you can reorder the photos to see the latest images. So once you look through you can come back and look at the newest ones.

Upgrades

I added links to the agents email so that your computer will try to start an email for you instead of you having to copy and paste the email address into an email.. Also on every listing page is a direct link to the agents email address so you can contact them directly from the listing page instead of having to go a searching for their details. Also on the listing page is a view counter that tracks the view statistic of the property on this webiste.

Photo galleries

Photo galleries are now up.

You can now go and look at collections of photos sorted by kitchens, bath rooms, dining rooms, bed rooms and like seven other groups. Pretty cool.... ohhh and FYI, next we will be reworking the homepage.. so look for that to come in a day or two.

Making it faster

Just doing some work to reduce the amount of systems resource it take to send each page to your browser.

I know you don't really care about that but the reduce in system resource usage for me should translate in a reduction of page load time for you.

New map and recently viewed

Updates.

I just upgraded the map within a property listing to have the ability to do street level viewing, so now you can spin around and look at the neighbors accross the street, or the next door neighbors house etc. etc.

Also now at the bottom of your page you will see a growing list of the properties you have viewed within the site so you can back to them easily.

Regional search and Photo captions

Updates.

I just added the ability to search by region. So if you were looking for a home in the South West area of Grand Island NE you can find it with more ease. Also, you can search for a home not in Grand Island but in the South West area of the region, in the Hastings, Alda, Wood River area. Pretty cool. Also today I added captions to all the property photos so you don't have to hover over the photo to find out what it is now.

Homes with character

You can now search with year built as a preference.

If you only want to see new construction change the "Built after" menu to 2000. If you only want to look at depression area properties change built after to 1930 and built before to 1940. Some funky 60s and 70s, "built after" = 1960,"built before" = 1980.

Advanced Search Ability

I just added a new little drop down under the search form in the header for adding further refinements to your search. Right now the only additional field is "street name", more will come soon. An interesting thing about the street name is you don't need to worry about capitalization, heck you don't even need to know the actual name of the street. As long as you can give it a few letters it will find it. For instance, if you were looking for "Kennedy Circle" but wasn't sure about the correct spelling, just searching for "ke" you would get results for Kennedy as well as “Kearney Rd.”, “Baker Ave”, “Chesapeake Cir” etc.. Pretty cool.

Sporadic Down Time

I will be working on the ground work to add advanced search features to the site today such as street name, street number, square footage etc.. As a side effect of this you may encounter some site wide issues. Pages not loading, loading with errors and such like.. I will try to keep it brief.

Might have encountered issues

You might have encountered some issues today. I was doing some work to remove some potential errors in the feed and so there was potential for some strange looking pages late this afternoon. All that work is finished and any cached pages showing incomplete data should time out soon.

Captions on property photos

We now have captions on our photos, if you hover your mouse cursor over the large image you should see the caption as a tool tip from your cursor. I will eventually put the captions on the page, but for now at least they are there.

Welcome to the new website

Hello, welcome to the new HomeFinder website. We are now about two weeks into running the new site and things are going really pretty well. I have noticed the site can respond a little sluggish at time and am working on how best to make sure the site is always quick. Also I am getting ready to add a Facebook recommend tool on the listing page so that you can recommend properties right on your Facebook wall.. should be pretty cool...
